Utah Mountains Room Mural

Angelina and I planned a winter of snow sports in Utah, but with little snow, we tackled a mural project instead. This mural is inspired Little Cottonwood mountain range. It took us 5 days to create the mural. Our journey from planning to execution is captured in a timelapse video. Enjoy the final product!

Timelapse of Angelina and I creating the mural

On December 14th, 2023, Angelina and I arrived in Utah, looking forward to a winter of great snow sports in the fluffy Utah snow. However, the goddess of climate change did not smile upon us this year–Utah saw less than 3 inches of snow in the entirety of December 2023. Therefore, we had to find something else to do.

Secretly, I was happy about this–Southern Californian body has been conditioned to the point where it quivers at the thought of low temperature and eternal winter. Even at 55F bouldering days, you can find me lethargically lounging on the rocks, soaking up the sunlight like a lizard.

And thus my restless mind searched for fun projects to work on with Angelina–after all, since graduating, she and I rarely get week-long quality time together. One day, while doing yoga at Momentum Mill Creek, I looked up to the yoga room mural of the beautiful Little Cottonwood mountain range and was inspired.

Why not do a mural for her room? In 3 hours, she and I were planning the mural with pencils and erasers. We searched up pictures of beautiful mountain ranges and interesting creatures to put in our mountains. Here are some pictures from the internet that inspired us.

The whole mural, entirely done in markers, took us 5 days to finish from planning to drawing. Here is the final product and a timelapse video. Enjoy!
